The Copernicus trip starts in Gdansk. Copernicus visited Gdansk several times as travel representative of Bishop of Warmia/Ermland. He used to stay overnight close to St Mary’s Church. Later on we will drive to one of places choosen by you. It is up to you if we will visit Toruń, Frombork or Lidzbark Warmiński. We can visit Olsztyn if you prefer. One day will let you visit Gdansk and one of choosen cities. Distance from Gdansk to destination cities will let us come back to Gdansk if you will prefer 1 day tour option. In case of 2 or 3 days trip you will spend the night in local 3 or 4 stars hotels.
Copernicus was born in 1473 and died in 1543. He experienced transition from Middle Ages to Renaissance. Copernicus has witnessed the end of Teutonic Order in Prussia. He was leading defence of the city of Olsztyn during Polish-Teutonic War 1519-1521.
Nicolaus Copernicus is one of the most famous Poles. He was a Renaissance-era genius – astronomer, mathematician, economist, psyhician and diplomat. Copernicus lived not so far from Gdansk, in Frombork, Lidzbark Warminski and Olsztyn. The „Copernican Revolution” was the first heliocentric model in Renaissance sholarschip. Let’s explore the historical region of Warmia/Ermland, the former semi independent bishop state.
